Android email configuration guide

This guide explains how to configure your Windows Phone to access your email account.

This tutorial was created using a Nokia Lumia 520 mobile phone running the Windows Phone OS 8.0. If you are using different hardware or a different OS version, these instructions may slightly differ.

The domain yourdomain.com is used throughout this guide as a substitute for your domain name. If your domain is johnsmith.com, use johnsmith.com in place of yourdomain.com.

 Configuration of your device

Follow the steps below to set up email on your mobile device:
  1. Tap the Settings icon:

  2. Select Email+accounts

  3. Add an account

  4. Select Advanced Setup

  5. Enter username and password

  6. Select Internet Mail

  7. Set up Account name, Your name, Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.com and account type: POP3 or IMAP

  8. Enter your Username (user@yourdomain.com), Password, and Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: mail.yourdomain.com

  9. Click Sign In

  10. You'll see the new account created

  11. And the respective tab appearing on your homescreen

Should you come across any issues such as Error code: 80072F30, be sure to double check the settings you've configured. This particular error for example, points to a missoconfiguration (misspelling) of the smtp server.

Setup Complete

Your Windows device loads your incoming messages. You can now send and receive your email on your device!

If you are having difficulties when using the email client, read about Troubleshooting issues with sending and receiving email.
